Witness Appeal: Garda Injured After Patrol Vehicle Rammed in Glanmire
Witness appeal after a Garda patrol vehicle was rammed in Glanmire this afternoon. One Garda member was injured and taken to Cork University Hospital.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following an incident in Glanmire this afternoon in which an official Garda patrol vehicle was rammed by occupants of a stolen car, leaving one Garda member injured.
Gardaí in Glanmire responded to reports of a stolen vehicle at an industrial estate in Glanmire at approximately 2.20pm on Monday, 22 June 2026. On arrival at the scene, the occupants of the stolen car rammed an official Garda patrol vehicle.
A Garda member was injured during the incident. She was removed from the scene to Cork University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries were sustained by Garda members during the incident.
The occupants of the stolen car fled the scene on foot.
In a follow-up search of the scene, two adult males were arrested and are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in the Southern Region. Investigations are ongoing.
Gardaí are asking for anyone with information in relation to this incident to contact them. Any persons who were in the Glanmire industrial estate this afternoon, Monday 22 June 2026, between 1.30pm and 3pm, and who may have camera footage, including mobile phone and dash-cam footage, are asked to contact investigating Gardaí.
