Met Éireann Issues Yellow Rainfall Warning for 14 Counties Including Cork
Localised flooding and difficult travel expected.
Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for 14 counties across Ireland, with widespread heavy rain expected to bring difficult travel conditions and localised flooding on Thursday.
The warning, issued at 10:42 on Wednesday 1 October 2025 and updated at 15:51, comes into effect at 6:00 on Thursday morning and will remain in place until 20:00 that evening.
Cork, Kerry, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, and Waterford are among the affected counties in Munster. The warning also covers Cavan, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Longford, Mayo, Roscommon, and Sligo.
Met Éireann warns that the persistent rainfall may cause localised flooding, particularly in areas with poor drainage. Motorists should expect difficult travelling conditions throughout the day, with surface water likely on many roads.
Residents in affected areas are advised to allow extra time for journeys, drive with caution, and avoid walking or driving through floodwater where possible. Those in flood-prone areas should take precautions to protect property.
The warning affects much of the western half of the country and extends across the midlands and southern regions. Conditions are expected to improve after 20:00 on Thursday evening.
