Man Charged After €7,200 Cannabis and Cocaine Seizure and Firearm Recovery in East Cork
A man has been charged following a €7,200 seizure of suspected illegal cannabis and cocaine, and a 3D printed firearm, in East Cork under Operation Tara.
Gardaí have seized a total of €7,200 in suspected cannabis and cocaine, along with a 3D printed firearm, following a search at a residential location in the Ballymacoda area of East Cork.
The search took place on Friday 4 September 2026, and was carried out by members of the Cork County Divisional Drugs Unit and Serious Crime Unit, as part of Operation Tara.
Approximately €4,800 of cannabis and €2,400 of cocaine were seized, along with the 3D printed firearm. The drugs and firearm are now subject to analysis.
A male, aged in his 30s, was arrested in connection with the investigation and detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda Station in the Co. Cork area. He has since been charged, and is scheduled to appear at Dungarvan District Court on Monday 7 September 2026, at approximately 10.30am.
Investigations are ongoing.
Operation Tara is an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, launched by the Garda Commissioner in July 2021. Its focus is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks at all levels, international, national and local, involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
