€200,000 Cannabis Seized and Woman Arrested in Glanmire Drug Operation
Gardaí seize €200,000 of suspected cannabis and arrest a woman in Glanmire, Cork, as part of Operation Tara.
Gardaí have seized €200,000 worth of suspected cannabis and arrested a woman following a targeted operation in Glanmire, Cork, this weekend.
Members of the Divisional Drugs Unit in Cork City, operating in conjunction with colleagues from the Eastern Region, stopped and searched a car at Glanmire on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
Ten kilograms of suspected cannabis, with an estimated street value of €200,000, was recovered during the search.
A woman aged in her 40s was arrested at the scene and subsequently detained at a Garda station in the Southern Region under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
She was later charged and is due to appear before Cork District Court this morning, 2 March 2026, at 10:30am.
The seized drugs will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. Investigations remain ongoing.
The operation forms part of Operation Tara, a national anti-drugs strategy launched by the Garda Commissioner in July 2021, which aims to disrupt, dismantle, and prosecute drug trafficking networks operating at international, national, and local levels.
