Eight Affordable Cost Rental Homes Available in Carrigtwohill
Cork County Council opens applications for 8 affordable Cost Rental homes in Carrigtwohill from 27 November, with rents 26% below market rates.
Cork County Council has announced applications will open later this month for eight new Cost Rental homes in Baile Adaim, Carrigtwohill, offering rents at least 26% below private market rates. The scheme targets middle-income households who cannot access social housing but struggle with private rental costs.
The development comprises six two-bedroom mid-terraced houses and two four-bedroom semi-detached houses, all built to A-rated energy standards. The newly constructed homes are located in a sought-after residential area close to Carrigtwohill town centre.
Cost Rental provides long-term secure tenancies at below-market rents, supported by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. The scheme is designed for people who do not own a home and are above the threshold for social housing assistance but find private rental accommodation difficult to afford.
Applications will be accepted through an online portal on Cork County Council's website from 12 noon on Thursday, 27th November until 12 noon on Thursday, 11th December 2025. Successful applicants will be selected by lottery from those who meet the eligibility criteria and submit all required documents.
Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Mary Linehan Foley said:
"The development in Baile Adaim is conveniently located in this popular residential area just a short distance from Carrigtwohill's town centre and all its amenities. This new scheme demonstrates the work that Cork County Council is doing in achieving the housing targets set by the government."
Renters will enter a tenancy arrangement directly with Cork County Council. Full details on eligibility criteria, application guidance and required documentation are available on the Council's website.
