Three e-scooters were seized from three separate 12-year-olds in three separate incidents in the past week, as Gardaí at Gurranabraher Garda Station continue to carry out enforcement in relation to the illegal and unsafe use of e-scooters in the community.

In a separate incident, Gardaí stopped a 48-year-old who was using an e-scooter on a footpath. A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice (FCPN) will issue in respect of the offence.

Gardaí have said they continue to appeal to parents and guardians in relation to the risks associated with allowing children to use e-scooters and other powered vehicles.

Gardaí at Gurranabraher Garda Station:

"We continue to appeal to parents and guardians to be aware of the risks associated with allowing children to use e-scooters and other powered vehicles. These vehicles can pose a serious risk to young and vulnerable road users when used improperly or unlawfully."

"Our enforcement activity will continue as we work to keep pedestrians, road users and the wider community safe."
