Revenue Officers Seize €178,000 Worth of Fake Designer Goods in Nationwide Operations

Revenue officers have seized counterfeit items worth an estimated €178,000 during a series of operations across Ireland over the past week, officials revealed yesterday.

The operations, which commenced on 28 April 2025, resulted in the confiscation of 561 counterfeit items infringing on intellectual property rights. The fake goods bore the branding of numerous luxury and popular fashion labels including Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Canada Goose, Burberry, Chanel, Moncler, and Stone Island.

Sports brands were also heavily counterfeited, with fake items bearing Nike, Adidas, Asics, New Balance, Puma, Fila, Umbro, and Converse logos among those seized.

The counterfeit fashion items were part of a larger haul of contraband with a total estimated value of €355,000 recovered during intelligence-led operations in Dublin, the Midlands, Rosslare Europort and Tipperary.

Additional seizures included over 5.4kg of herbal cannabis valued at €108,600, more than 5,200 assorted tablets worth nearly €10,300, and cash totalling €42,750. Various weapons, alcohol and tobacco products were also confiscated during the operations.

The seizures form part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity. Investigations into all seizures are ongoing, officials confirmed.
