A phased stop/go traffic system is set to operate overnight on Carrigrohane Road, known locally as the Straight Road, from Monday as part of a major resurfacing scheme.

The works, flagged in a Cork City Council alert and shared by local councillor Joe Lynch, will run nightly between 9pm and 6am from Monday 28 September to Friday 2 October 2026.

Stop/go traffic control will be in place at varying locations along the stretch between the Poulavone roundabout and Inchigaggin Lane, to facilitate civil works forming part of the large-scale resurfacing project. Contractor Breedon is carrying out the works, according to the council notice.

Normal access will be maintained outside of these hours, so daytime traffic on the route should be unaffected.

Cllr Joe Lynch shared the update on Facebook, noting the works are going ahead "to facilitate badly needed resurfacing and related works."
