Cork County Council Issues Flood Warning as Heavy Rain Continues
Avoid driving through flood water and exercise caution on roads.
Cork County Council has activated its Severe Weather Assessment Team as Met Éireann's Status Yellow Rain Warning remains in effect, with further heavy rainfall expected tonight and over the coming days on already saturated ground.
The Council has warned that the prolonged wet weather may lead to excess surface water and further flooding across the county. Motorists and road users should expect poor visibility and hazardous driving conditions during periods of heavy rain.
Cork County Council's emergency crews have inspected known risk locations and will continue to monitor and respond as required. Pumping arrangements have been put in place at locations prone to flooding.
The Council is advising members of the public to exercise caution on the roads as surface flooding may occur. Drivers should avoid driving through flowing or standing water, and be particularly mindful of cyclists and pedestrians during adverse conditions.
Issues such as flooding or road damage should be reported to the Council's Emergency Out of Hours number on 021 4800048, or your local Council office during working hours.
For emergencies, call 999 or 112 and request the appropriate service (Fire, Ambulance, Gardaí, or Irish Coast Guard). In the event of water supply disruptions, contact Uisce Éireann at 1800 278 278.
Cork County Council will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
