N28 Weekend Closure Between Rochestown and Carr's Hill for M28 Bridge Works

Motorists are being advised that the N28 will fully close between Rochestown and Carr's Hill this weekend as part of the M28 Cork to Ringaskiddy motorway scheme, with a signed diversion in place throughout.

The closure will run from 8pm on Friday 24 July to 5am on Monday 27 July 2026. During this period the N28 will be fully closed between Rochestown and Carr's Hill.

The works form part of the wider replacement of the Maryborough Hill overbridge, which is to be demolished and replaced with a new structure. To keep traffic moving on Maryborough Hill Road during the main construction, a temporary bridge is being installed this weekend, and the N28 closure is required to allow that installation to take place.

Maryborough Hill Road will also close, from 11pm on Friday 24 July, reopening at 7am on Saturday 25 July 2026. It will therefore reopen on Saturday morning, while the N28 remains closed until Monday.

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place for the duration of the N28 closure. HGVs will be directed to divert via Junction 6, with the existing overhead signs on the N40 used to advise drivers, while a signed local diversion will operate for other traffic. Full diversion details are available on the M28 project website, m28.ie.

Emergency services are being notified in advance so that access can be maintained throughout the works.

The M28 project team has thanked road users for their continued patience and cooperation during the works.
