N28 to close fully between Rochestown and Carr's Hill for weekend of 24 July

Motorists are being advised to plan ahead, with the N28 due to close fully between Rochestown and Carr's Hill for the weekend of 24 July as part of the M28 Cork to Ringaskiddy Motorway scheme. The closure will run from 8pm on Friday 24 July until 5am on Monday 27 July 2026, to allow a temporary bridge to be installed at Maryborough Hill.

As part of the scheme, the existing overbridge at Maryborough Hill is to be demolished and replaced with a new structure. To keep Maryborough Hill Road open while that work is carried out, a temporary bridge will be installed and traffic routed onto it, minimising disruption during construction of the new permanent overbridge.

The N28 will be fully closed between Rochestown and Carr's Hill for the duration of the installation, from 8pm on Friday 24 July to 5am on Monday 27 July 2026.

Some short closures of Maryborough Hill Road will also be required at key stages, particularly during lifting operations, to ensure safety.

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place throughout the closure, and emergency services will be notified in advance to maintain access.

The M28 Project Team has thanked all road users for their continued patience and cooperation during the works.
