N25 Midleton to Youghal Transport Project Launches First Public Consultation
N25 Midleton to Youghal Transport Project public consultation is open now until 29 July, giving locals a chance to give feedback on the study area and constraints.
The Cork National Roads Office has opened the first public consultation for the N25 Midleton to Youghal Transport Project, inviting residents to give feedback on the study area and constraints identified for the scheme.
The project, known as N25MY, is being progressed by the Cork National Roads Office on behalf of Cork County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland. It covers a study area stretching from Lakeview in Midleton to Ballyvergan, to the west of Youghal.
This section of the N25 frequently experiences congestion, unreliable journey times and safety issues. To address these challenges, the project is being progressed as a long-term strategic transport project, currently at Phase 2, Option Selection.
Public Consultation No. 1 is seeking feedback on the study area and constraints identified, which are shown on maps available on the project website. The study area, also known as the constraints study area, is used to identify physical, artificial, engineering, and natural limitations within the region where options are expected to be created and assessed.

The study area is not fixed. Its boundaries are shaped by ongoing analysis of constraints, risks, and opportunities, as well as design development, and can change throughout the project lifecycle.
Constraints refer to limitations or restrictions that may affect the design and development of potential options, including physical, environmental, engineering, regulatory, economic, and community factors. Identifying these helps ensure the project minimises negative impacts and promotes positive opportunities, aligning outcomes with project objectives and community needs.
The online public consultation event runs from 10.00am on Wednesday 1 July to 4.00pm on Wednesday 29 July 2026. The following material will be available on the project website:Brochure; Study Area Map; Identified Constraints Maps; and Questionnaire.

The Cork National Roads Office is inviting members of the public to share local knowledge and suggest opportunities or ideas that should be considered as part of the project.
Further information and an interactive map are available at n25midletontoyoughal.ie. The project team is available to answer questions at n25midletontoyoughal@aecom.com.
Submissions on the project can be made by email or by post before the consultation closes, to: Cork National Roads Office, Cork County Council, Richmond, Glanmire, Co. Cork, T45 WA44.
