Major Water Burst Affects Supply in Boherbue and Surrounding Areas

Uisce Éireann is currently working to restore normal water supply following a significant burst at Kinahulla, Boherbue, Mallow, Co. Cork, affecting areas including Kiskeam, Boherbue, Ballydesmond, Knocknagree, Dernagree, and surrounding communities.

Water services crews have been on-site addressing the burst since early this morning. Due to the complexity of repairs required, customers in affected areas will experience disruption until works are completed.

Alternative water supplies have been arranged, with tankers available from 9am on Wednesday, 19 March, at Boherbue National School, Boherbue Secondary School, Kiskeam GAA pitch, and Ballydesmond GAA pitch. Residents are reminded to bring their own containers and to boil all water taken from these tankers as a precautionary measure, following HSE advice.

Uisce Éireann anticipates full restoration of the water supply by 6pm on Wednesday, 19 March.

Michael Bell, Water Network Operations Lead, Uisce Éireann:

"We understand the inconvenience when a large burst of this nature occurs, and we are working to remedy this unplanned outage. The alternative water supply will be available until the water supply is fully restored. We thank the community for their understanding at this time."
