Joint Garda and Revenue Operation Seizes Over €1.6 Million in Cannabis in Cork

A joint operation involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit, and Revenue Customs Service has resulted in the seizure of approximately 83.5kg of herbal cannabis in County Cork, with an estimated value of €1,670,000.

Today, Monday 6 July 2026, as part of an intelligence-led operation involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit, and Revenue Customs Service, approximately 83.5kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1,670,000 were seized by Revenue Customs officers.

One male, aged in his 30s, was arrested and is currently detained in a Garda station in County Cork under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis. Investigations are ongoing.
