Major Drug and Firearms Seizure in Mallow with Cork City Follow-Up Searches
Man arrested after Gardaí seize cocaine, firearms and ammunition in Mallow; Army bomb disposal unit called to Cork city follow-up searches.
Gardaí have arrested a man in his 40s following the seizure of cocaine, multiple suspected firearms and ammunition after observing a suspicious vehicle in Mallow on Tuesday night. Follow-up searches at a Cork city residence required Army bomb disposal assistance.
The operation began on Tuesday night, 4th November 2025, when Gardaí on duty observed a vehicle acting suspiciously at Lisanisky, Mallow, Co. Cork. A search of the vehicle led to the immediate seizure of a quantity of cocaine, three suspected firearms and ammunition.
A male in his 40s was arrested at the scene and conveyed to a Garda station in Co. Cork, where he is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
The investigation expanded with follow-up searches conducted at a domestic residence in Cork city on Wednesday, 5th November and Thursday, 6th November 2025. Given the nature of the items discovered, the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit attended the scene to ensure public safety.
These searches resulted in the seizure of numerous additional items, including suspected shotgun cartridges, ammunition, pipe bomb components, firearm components, firearms and various other items.
All firearms and components seized during the operation are now subject to forensic and ballistic examination. Investigations are ongoing.
