An Garda Síochána has confirmed third-party unauthorised access to two official Garda social media accounts on X, @gardainfo and @gardatraffic. The statement was issued on 15 October 2026.

Gardaí said the unauthorised access has occurred on the X platform only. An Garda Síochána is satisfied that there has been no unauthorised access to any Garda systems, and that there is no loss or impact on any Garda data.

An Garda Síochána is warning members of the public not to interact with any content posted on the @gardatraffic or @gardainfo X accounts, or on accounts purporting to be these accounts.

Gardaí said they continue to carry out internal enquiries and are working with the X platform to understand how the unauthorised access occurred. A Garda spokesperson is not available, and no additional information has been provided.
