Bus Éireann Encourages Jazz Fans to Hop on Cork City Services for Festival Weekend

Bus Éireann is encouraging music fans to take the bus to the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, which runs from Thursday 22 October to Bank Holiday Monday 26 October.

In a social media post, the operator said the festival will bring the city to life with music and performances. It is encouraging festival-goers to use its Cork City Services as a more convenient way to get there, and is pointing passengers towards the TFI Leap Card for cheaper fares.

Bus Éireann:

“Travel for less with your TFI Leap Card and spend more time enjoying the music!”

Route and timetable information is available on the Bus Éireann Cork City Services page. Journeys can also be planned using the TFI Journey Planner or the TFI Live App.

According to Transport for Ireland’s Cork Jazz Festival travel page, main events will take place at venues including the Metropole Hotel on MacCurtain Street, Cork Opera House, City Hall, the Triskel Arts Centre on Tobin Street, Cyprus Avenue on Caroline Street, Kino on Washington Street, the Everyman, St Luke’s Church and St Peter’s Church on North Main Street.

Parnell Place Bus Station is a three-minute walk from the city centre, while Kent Station is about a ten-minute walk. TFI Bikes are also available around the city, including at Kent Station and Parnell Place.

Rail passengers travelling on the opening night should check their plans. Due to engineering works between Mallow and Cork on Thursday 22 October, the 21:00 Heuston to Cork train will run to Mallow only, with bus transfers on to Cork. The 22:00 and 23:00 Cork to Mallow trains will be replaced by bus transfers, with the later bus leaving Cork at 23:20, and the 22:30 Mallow to Cork will also be replaced by bus transfers. Full details are on Irish Rail’s engineering works page.

Anyone travelling from Limerick on Saturday 24 or Sunday 25 October should note that buses will replace trains between Limerick and Limerick Junction due to separate works. TFI also notes that Irish Rail may add extra services for some late evening events, which are listed on its additional services page.

One final note for the night owls: the clocks go back at 2am on Sunday 25 October, so Saturday night gains an extra hour. It’s well worth checking your last bus home against the new time before the last set.
