Gardaí Appeal for Witnesses Following Fatal Collision Near Dunmanway
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision between a motorbike and van on the R587 at Gloun North, Dunmanway, this afternoon.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the R587 near Gloun North, Dunmanway, Co. Cork, this afternoon, Wednesday 5 August 2026.
The collision involved a motorbike and a van and occurred at approximately 2:30pm. The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His body has been removed to Cork University Hospital, where a post mortem will take place. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
The road remained closed this afternoon for examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. It has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. Any road users travelling in the area between 2:15pm and 3:00pm, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
