Gardaí investigating fatal assault in Youghal on Monday night; man in his 30s dies after incident on North Main Street.

Gardaí have launched an investigation following the death of a man in his 30s after a serious assault in Youghal, Co. Cork on Monday night.
Emergency services were called to the scene at a commercial premises on North Main Street shortly before 10pm on Monday, 14th April 2025. The victim was rushed to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries but was later pronounced dead.
A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Cork County.
Multiple scenes are currently preserved for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified, and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been assigned to oversee the case, and an incident room has been established at Midleton Garda Station. A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) will also be appointed to support the deceased man's family during the investigation.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area at the time or who have any information to come forward.
