Cork County Council Launches My Creative Wish 2027 for Children and Young People
Cork schools and youth groups can apply for My Creative Wish 2027. Request an application pack by 23 October 2026; applications close 13 November 2026.
Cork County Council, in partnership with the Creative Ireland Programme, has announced the return of My Creative Wish for 2027. The initiative gives children and young people the chance to turn a creative idea into reality, with schools and youth groups invited to apply.
Aligned with Cruinniú na nÓg, Ireland's national day of free creativity for children and young people, the programme invites participants to share a creative experience they would love to explore. It has become a flagship initiative for nurturing creativity across Cork County.
In 2026, almost 40 wishes were realised through artist-led workshops in schools and libraries throughout the county. Young participants explored architecture, theatre, dance, circus arts, ceramics, baking, design, ballet and more.
For 2027, Cork County Council's Culture and Creativity Team will again select a number of winning wishes from entries submitted by schools and youth groups. Successful applicants will receive a series of six fully funded workshops led by professional artists and creative practitioners, so that entire classes and groups can take part.
A number of runners-up will also receive Creative Ireland-funded workshops delivered through their local library. The outcomes of the winning projects will be showcased as part of Cruinniú na nÓg 2027 on Saturday, 12 June 2027. Showcases may include exhibitions, performances, demonstrations, concerts, installations or other forms of creative presentation.
Welcoming the launch, Cllr. Bernard Moynihan, Mayor of the County of Cork, said:
"My Creative Wish encourages children and young people to think creatively, explore new interests and develop confidence through artistic expression. It is a fantastic opportunity for young people to discover new skills, engage with professional artists, and see their ideas come to life. We are proud to support a programme that champions creativity and places young people's voices at its heart."
Schools and youth groups interested in taking part can request an application pack by emailing creativeireland@corkcoco.ie before 23 October 2026. The closing date for applications is 13 November 2026.
Whether their interest lies in circus skills, coding, costume design, cartooning, choreography, music, visual arts or an entirely new creative adventure, young people across the county are being encouraged to submit their ideas.
