Ballyvolane Fire Station received an upgrade during the period, and new funding was secured for equipment and vehicles. Community fire safety programmes were also delivered in support of vulnerable groups across the city.
On the prevention side, the Fire Service issued 282 Fire Safety Certificates and completed 262 safety inspections, with a continued focus on high-risk buildings.
Cork City's Civil Defence unit also had a productive year, with 18 new volunteers joining the service. The unit provided support at a range of major events throughout the year, including the Cork City Marathon, St Patrick's Day celebrations, and Live at the Marquee.
