Cork City Council Announces Extended Parking Hours for Christmas Shopping Season

Cork City Council has confirmed revised opening hours for city centre car parks and park and ride services to accommodate shoppers during the busy festive period.

Blackash Park & Ride is now open on Sundays from 11:00 to 20:30, continuing through to 21 December, with an earlier 07:00 start on that final Sunday. Extended evening hours until 22:00 on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays began on 13 November and run through to 20 December.

North Main Street and Paul Street car parks are operating extended Sunday hours throughout the period. Both facilities opened at 09:00 on Sundays in November, moving to earlier 07:30 openings from 30 November through to 21 December. Normal 11:30 Sunday opening hours resume at both car parks on 28 December.

A temporary park and ride service between County Hall and Sheares Street launched this past weekend. The five-week service operates Saturdays from 09:30 to 20:30 and Sundays from 10:30 to 20:30, running through to 21 December.

All council car parks will close early at 18:30 on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, and remain closed on Christmas Day, St. Stephen's Day, and New Year's Day. Services resume on 2 January 2026.
