49,000 Homes Still Without Power as ESB Networks Battle Storm Amy Aftermath
Report fallen wires: 1800 372 999.
ESB Networks crews are working in difficult conditions to restore power to approximately 49,000 homes, farms and businesses across the northwest, with the majority expected to have electricity back by tomorrow night.
Storm Amy continued to cause disruption to the electricity network overnight, leaving customers predominantly in Donegal, Leitrim, Roscommon, Galway and Mayo without power as of 12pm today.
More than two-thirds of customers who lost power due to the storm have now had their supply restored. ESB Networks expects to continue making significant progress throughout the day and believes the majority of remaining customers will have power restored by tomorrow night, Sunday 5 October.
However, some customers in the worst affected areas may remain without power into the early part of next week. This is likely to include customers in Donegal, which recorded the highest wind speeds during Storm Amy, and in areas across the northwest.
ESB Networks is updating estimated restoration times on www.PowerCheck.ie throughout the day. A further update for smaller groups of customers may be issued tomorrow as repair works continue.
Customers can sign up for the "Keep me Updated" service on www.PowerCheck.ie to receive status updates directly about power outages in their area.
ESB Networks has acknowledged the disruption to family and commercial life and thanked affected customers for their patience as crews work to safely restore power.
