Young Music Talent to Take Centre Stage at Rock the Block 2025 in Cork

St. Anne's Park Shandon will come alive with the sounds of emerging musical talent this June as Rock the Block 2025 returns for its third year as part of the Cruinniú na nÓg celebrations.

The free event, scheduled for Saturday 7th June from 2pm to 8:30pm, promises a full day of youth music-making and creativity beneath the iconic Shandon bells. The celebration will showcase a diverse range of young performers and culminate with a headline performance from rising rap and hip-hop artist Hazey Haze.

Rock the Block 2025 represents a collaborative effort between Kabin Studio, Musical Neighbourhoods and Music Generation Cork City, positioning itself among the exciting new night-time economy events taking place across Cork city.

The day's programme begins at 2pm with Rap-A-Mile featuring the youngest performers from Kabin Studio, known for their association with 'The Spark'. A traditional Irish and folk open jam session follows at 4pm, before an interactive breakdance workshop with Cian Mulcahy kicks off at 4:15pm.

The afternoon continues with a rock, pop, rap and hip-hop open mic session from 5pm, followed by a beat-box workshop with Lucas Saund at 6:45pm. The event will also feature a music showcase highlighting up-and-coming local young artists before Hazey Haze takes the stage for the closing performance.

Organisers promise audiences will experience "non-stop ceol, craic and magic" throughout the event, which aims to demonstrate that "Cork is alive with musical mayhem."

While admission is free, advance booking is recommended through Eventbrite. The event receives support from Cork City Council and Creative Ireland, the government's culture and wellbeing programme that connects people, creativity and community through artistic expression.

Rock the Block 2025 forms part of the broader Cruinniú na nÓg initiative, celebrating young people's creativity and cultural participation across Ireland.
