Yellow Weather Warnings Issued as Frost, Ice and Heavy Rain Set to Impact Ireland
Yellow weather warnings issued as frost, ice and heavy rain are set to impact Ireland and parts of Munster this weekend. Stay safe and plan ahead.
Motorists and pedestrians are being urged to take extra care as Met Éireann has issued a series of Status Yellow weather warnings, covering low temperatures, ice and heavy rainfall over the coming days.
A Status Yellow Low Temperature and Ice Warning is in place nationwide from 21:00 on Friday 13 February 2026 until 10:00 on Saturday 14 February 2026. Temperatures are forecast to fall to between -1°C and -3°C, leading to sharp frost and icy conditions.
Met Éireann has warned that the cold spell is likely to result in hazardous travel conditions, both on roads and underfoot, with an increased risk of slips and falls. Drivers are advised to allow extra time for journeys, reduce speed, and be alert for black ice, particularly on untreated rural roads, bridges and shaded areas.
Following the icy start to the weekend, a separate Status Yellow Rain Warning has been issued for Cork and Kerry, valid from 12:00 on Saturday 14 February until 00:00 on Sunday 15 February 2026.
Periods of rain, including heavy falls, are expected, bringing the risk of spot flooding and difficult travel conditions. Localised flooding may occur on roads and in low-lying areas, with reduced visibility and surface water posing additional hazards for motorists.
Met Éireann is advising the public to stay informed by checking the latest forecasts and warnings, and to take appropriate precautions, particularly if travelling during the warning periods.
