Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow snow and rain warning for Cork and three other counties, with wintry conditions expected to develop tomorrow afternoon as Storm Goretti affects the region.
The warning, issued this morning at 09:22, comes into effect at midday on Thursday 8 January and remains in place until 20:00 tomorrow evening.
Cork will be affected alongside Kerry, Waterford, and Wexford, with Met Éireann forecasting rain, heavy at times, that will turn to sleet and snow in places during Thursday afternoon. The forecaster notes accumulations are possible, particularly at elevation.
Met Éireann has identified several potential impacts from the wintry weather: hazardous travelling conditions, spot flooding, poor visibility, and icy patches.
The warning covers an eight-hour period from midday to 20:00 on Thursday 8 January, affecting the southern counties as Storm Goretti moves through the region.
