Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for Cork and Kerry, with heavy rain and gusty winds expected to bring localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions overnight.

The warning comes into effect at 2am on Tuesday, 20 January, and will remain in place until 8am the same morning.

Forecasters are warning of a spell of heavy rain coupled with strong and gusty east to southeast winds during the six-hour period.

The potential impacts include localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions, particularly during the early morning commute.

The warning was issued at 8.52am this morning, Monday, 19 January.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution, particularly on rural roads and in areas prone to surface water pooling.
