Woman Hospitalised Following Alleged Assault on Gillabbey Street

Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault on a woman in her 30s on Gillabbey Street in Cork city centre earlier today, with the victim receiving treatment at Cork University Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Officers from Bridewell Garda Station responded to reports of the alleged assault on Thursday morning, 7th August 2025. Upon arrival at the scene on Gillabbey Street, located in the heart of the city, Gardaí discovered a woman who had sustained injuries during the incident.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was transported to Cork University Hospital where she received medical treatment. A Garda spokesperson confirmed that her injuries are not considered life threatening.

Garda Press Office spokesperson stated:

"On Thursday the 7th August 2025 Gardaí at Bridewell Garda Station received a report of an alleged assault that is alleged to have recently occurred on Gillabbey Street in Cork city."

They added:

"When Gardaí arrived they discovered a woman in her 30s with non-life threatening injuries. She has since received medical treatment at Cork University Hospital."

The circumstances surrounding the alleged assault remain under investigation. Gardaí have not released information about potential suspects or whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Gardaí confirmed:

"Investigations are ongoing."
