Witness Appeal: Teenager Dies in Late-Night Collision Near Newmarket
Road remains closed with diversions in place.
A male driver in his late teens has died following a single-vehicle collision at Scarteen Lower, Newmarket, Cork, late on Saturday night, 11th October 2025.
The collision occurred shortly after 11:20 pm when the vehicle left the road and collided with a ditch. The young driver was fatally injured at the scene, while a male passenger, also in his teens, was uninjured.
The deceased has been removed to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
The road remains closed this morning as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out a full examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.
GardaΓ at Mallow are appealing for anyone who was travelling in the area at the time of the collision to come forward. Road users with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings from that section of road during the relevant period, are asked to make it available to investigating officers.
