Witness Appeal Following Fatal Road Traffic Collision on N73 Near Mitchelstown

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the N73 near Mitchelstown, Co. Cork.

The collision, involving a car and a motorcycle, occurred at approximately 1.40pm on Sunday, 21 June 2026.

The driver of the motorcycle, a male aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been removed to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The coroner has been notified.

The female driver of the car, aged in her 30s, was conveyed to Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel as a precaution. No other injuries were reported at the time.

The road was subject to technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward. Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, and were travelling on the N73 near Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, on Sunday, 21 June 2026, between 1.00pm and 2.00pm, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
