West Cork Roads Remain Closed as River Ilen Floods R594 at Madore

Cork County Council has confirmed that several roads in West Cork remain impassable this evening due to flooding, with the R594 at Madore completely closed after the River Ilen burst its banks.
The R594 at Madore is currently impassable to all traffic following flooding from the River Ilen. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
The road at Coomhola will remain closed until tomorrow, 3rd October, as repair works continue. Drivers planning to travel through the area should factor in significant delays and plan alternative routes where possible.
In more positive news, the N71 at Tunnel Road in Glengarriff has reopened and is now passable to traffic after earlier disruptions.
Cork County Council has warned that driving conditions continue to be difficult across West Cork, with particular caution advised on all regional and national routes in the area.
