Met Éireann has issued a rain advisory for Cork and 25 other counties, highlighting the potential for widespread heavy showers or longer spells of rain on Sunday, especially during the afternoon and early evening.

Some localised torrential downpours will occur, with the potential for thunderstorms, lightning and associated gusty winds.

While they will be hit and miss, some localised flooding may occur.

The advisory covers Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Laois, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath, Wexford, and Wicklow.

The advisory was issued at 9:18am on Saturday 29 August 2026, and updated at 9:11am on Sunday 30 August 2026. Its expected onset was 3:00am on Sunday 30 August 2026, and it expires at 12:00am on Monday 31 August 2026.
