Water Supply Disruption Hits Glanmire Following Significant Burst

Residents in two Glanmire estates are facing water supply disruptions today following a significant burst, with Uisce Éireann deploying water tankers to affected areas while repair crews work to restore normal service by tomorrow lunchtime.
Customers in Glen Richmond Estate and Richmond Estate are experiencing the outage, with alternative water supplies now available at both locations. Uisce Éireann has advised residents to bring their own containers when collecting water from the tankers and to boil all water before drinking as a precautionary measure, following HSE guidelines.
The utility company expects repairs to be completed and normal supply restored by approximately 12pm on Monday, 28 July. However, customers at the end of the network or those living on higher ground may experience longer delays as the system fully recharges.
John Sheahan, Uisce Éireann:
"We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our crews work to repair the burst and restore normal supply."
The company noted that while it typically takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to return, the recharging process can take longer for some properties depending on their location within the network.
Uisce Éireann has reminded vulnerable customers who have registered with the service that they will receive direct communications for any outages lasting more than four hours. Those wishing to register can do so through the company's Vulnerable Customers page.
For those seeking real-time updates, Uisce Éireann offers a free text service where customers can sign up using their Eircode and mobile number on the Water Service Updates page. The company also provides 24/7 updates through their website, social media channels @IWCare and @IrishWater on X, Facebook and LinkedIn, and through their customer care helpline on 1800 278 278.
With Sunday's good weather making the timing particularly inconvenient for affected families, residents are advised to plan ahead for their water needs this evening and tomorrow morning until full service is restored.
