Water Main Burst Causes Disruption in Knockane, Castlemartyr

Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a burst water main in Knockane, Castlemartyr, following a second burst this evening after initial repairs were completed earlier today. Customers may experience outages or disruptions to their water supply.

A water tanker has been positioned at Knockane P25K793 from 7pm this evening to provide an alternative supply. Customers are advised to bring their own containers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

The initial burst was successfully repaired earlier on Wednesday, 14 January. However, a subsequent burst occurred this evening, requiring further work.

Michael Bell, Water Network Operations Manager at Uisce Éireann, said:

"Our crews successfully completed repairs following the initial burst earlier today. Unfortunately, a subsequent burst has occurred this evening. It is expected that the second repair will be completed by 2pm tomorrow, Thursday 15 January. We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and thank customers for their support while works continue to restore supply."

Following completion of the repairs, it typically takes several hours before water supply is fully restored to all affected customers. Those at the end of the network or on higher ground may experience longer delays as the system recharges.

Vulnerable customers registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
