Water Disruption for Killahora and Knockraha Following Burst Main

Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a burst rising main in Cork today, affecting water supplies to Killahora, Knockraha and surrounding areas. An emergency water tanker will be stationed at the Crescent, Windsor Hill, Glounthaune from 4pm, with residents advised to boil all water before use.

The unplanned outage follows a burst to the rising main which feeds the Killahora reservoir, leaving households across the affected areas without water supply. Uisce Éireann has mobilised repair crews to address the issue as quickly as possible.

An alternative water supply will be available from 4pm this afternoon at the Crescent, Windsor Hill, Glounthaune. Customers collecting water from the tanker must boil it before use as a precautionary measure, in line with HSE guidance.

Michael Bell, Uisce Éireann: "We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue. Every effort is being made to restore a full water supply to customers as quickly as possible."

Following completion of repairs, normal supply typically takes two to three hours to restore to all affected customers. However, residents at the end of the network or on higher ground may experience longer delays as the system recharges.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. Residents can register as a vulnerable customer or alternative contact through the utility's dedicated vulnerable customers page.
