Lidl recalls Braemoor Ham & Cheese Chicken Kievs batch 25190B over Salmonella risk.

- Lidl shoppers across Cork are urged to check their freezers after Glenhaven Foods announced an immediate recall of Braemoor Red Hen Ham & Cheese Chicken Kievs due to Salmonella contamination.
The Food Safety Authority has issued a Category 1 alert for the 500g packs of Braemoor Red Hen Ham & Cheese Chicken Kievs, a Lidl product, with batch code 25190B and a best before date of October 2026. The Irish-produced product poses a serious health risk if consumed.
Salmonella infection can cause severe illness, with symptoms typically appearing within 12 to 36 hours of consumption, though onset can range from 6 to 72 hours. The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which may be bloody, accompanied by fever, headache and abdominal cramps.
The illness usually lasts four to seven days, but severe cases may require hospitalisation. The elderly, infants and those with weakened immune systems face a higher risk of serious complications from Salmonella infection.
Glenhaven Foods is recalling the affected batch. Retailers have been requested to remove the implicated batch from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale. Wholesalers and distributors are contacting affected customers to recall the batch.
Caterers should not use the implicated batch under any circumstances.
Consumers are advised not to eat the affected product. The recall specifically affects batch code 25190B of the 500g packs with a best before date of October 2026.
Anyone who has consumed the affected product and is experiencing symptoms should contact their GP, particularly if symptoms are severe or persistent. Diarrhoea can occasionally be severe enough to require hospital admission.
The Food Safety Authority's alert notification system ensures potentially dangerous products are identified and removed from sale. Consumers who have purchased the product should check the batch code carefully and should not consume it if it matches the recalled batch.
