Unaccompanied Learner Caught Speeding at Dunkettle Interchange: Driving Without Insurance or L-Plates
Learner driver caught speeding at 94km/h in 60 zone at Dunkettle with no insurance, no L-plates, and unaccompanied.

A motorist was caught travelling at a dangerously high speed in Cork City this week, prompting concern from Gardaí as they uncovered a series of serious driving offences.
Gardaí were conducting speed checks at the busy Dunkettle Interchange when they detected a vehicle travelling at 94km/h in a 60km/h zone.
A Garda spokesperson explained:
“We were out checking speed at the Dunkettle Interchange in Cork City when we clocked the driver of this car going 94km/h in a 60km/h zone.”
Upon stopping the vehicle, Gardaí discovered that the driver was an unaccompanied learner, had no L-plates on display, and was operating the vehicle without insurance.
These findings highlight continued concerns about road safety and the importance of adhering to traffic laws, particularly at one of Cork’s busiest traffic junctions.
Gardaí are reminding all motorists to ensure they hold valid insurance, display appropriate plates if on a learner permit, and to always be accompanied as required.
