Uisce Éireann Flushing Works Coming to Deerpark Area Next Week
Uisce Éireann flushing works coming to Deerpark area from Tuesday night, 28 October. Expected to take four nights. Water remains safe to drink.
Uisce Éireann will begin targeted water network flushing in the Deerpark area of Cork city from Tuesday night, 28 October, as part of its ongoing programme to improve water quality and address discolouration across the city.
The works form part of a proactive flushing programme designed to improve water quality for homes and businesses throughout Cork city. Crews will focus on the Deerpark, Deermount and Deerpark Road areas, with the programme expected to take approximately four nights to complete.
James Goulding, Uisce Éireann's Operations Manager said: "
Next week, as part of Uisce Éireann's targeted flushing programme, our crews will focus on the Deerpark area of the city. This programme is informed by reports of discolouration in the network. We encourage customers to continue reporting any instances of discolouration, as this information is vital in helping us focus on areas that need attention."
The flushing programme addresses water discolouration caused by sediment, including naturally occurring metals such as manganese and iron, which can become dislodged from older cast iron pipes.
Residents in the affected areas can expect to see signage in place as works progress. Customers are advised to check the supply and services section at www.water.ie for updates.
If water appears discoloured during the works, Uisce Éireann recommends running the cold kitchen tap for up to 20 minutes to restore clarity. The water remains safe to drink once it runs clear.
Should discolouration persist, residents can contact Uisce Éireann's customer care team on 1800 278 278 or report issues via the dedicated online form at water.ie/cork.
The utility has significantly expanded its flushing programme in 2025, with works already completed in Blackpool, Old Youghal Road, Mayfield, Silversprings, Blackrock Road, Shanakiel, College Road and Greenmount areas this year.
Uisce Éireann has thanked customers for their patience as the improvement works continue across Cork city.
