Two Men Charged Following €472,000 Cannabis Seizure in Cork

Two men are due before Fermoy District Court this afternoon after being charged in connection with a significant drug seizure in County Cork earlier this week.

The pair, both aged in their 30s, will appear at a special sitting of the court at approximately 2:30pm today, Friday 30 January 2026.

The charges follow an intelligence-led operation on Wednesday 28 January involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, Cork North West Divisional Drugs Unit, and Revenue Customs Service.

During the operation, approximately 23.6 kilograms of suspected herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €472,000 was seized.

A woman in her 20s, who was also arrested as part of the investigation, has been released without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

All three individuals had been detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The seized drugs have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing.
