Gardaí have charged two men following a drugs operation in Bantry, Co. Cork, which resulted in the seizure of cocaine, cannabis, cash, and drug paraphernalia worth an estimated €12,600.

The operation took place on Tuesday, 3rd March 2026, when members of the Cork County Divisional Drugs Unit, assisted by the local Crime Unit, carried out a series of warrant-backed searches at a number of locations in the town.

Suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of €12,000 was among the items seized, along with a small quantity of cannabis, nearly €5,000 in cash, and drug-related paraphernalia. All seized drugs will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were arrested during the course of the operation and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in Co. Cork.

Both men have since been charged in connection with the investigation. The man aged in his 30s is due to appear in court at a later date, while the man aged in his 40s appeared before Macroom District Court this morning, Wednesday, 4th March 2026, at 10.30am.

The searches form part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy launched by the Garda Commissioner in July 2021, which aims to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks at international, national, and local level. Investigations remain ongoing.
