Two hospitalised following serious collision on N73 near Mallow

A man in his twenties remains in Cork University Hospital with life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle collision on the N73 near Mallow this morning.

The collision occurred at approximately 7:30 am today on the busy Cork-Limerick route, with both drivers requiring hospital treatment.

The second driver, a man in his thirties, was also taken to Cork University Hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time. No other injuries were reported from the incident.

Gardaí have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision or have relevant footage from the area.

The appeal specifically targets road users who were travelling on the N73 between Mallow and Mitchelstown between 7:15 am and 8:15 am this morning and may have captured dash-cam or other camera footage of the incident.

The timing of the collision, during the busy morning commute on one of Cork's major arterial routes, means there may have been several witnesses to the serious incident.
