Two men charged and due in court this morning following a major Garda drugs operation in Cork City targeting an Organised Crime Group.

Two Charged Following Major Garda Drugs Operation Targeting Organised Crime Group in Cork City Centre

An extensive operation led by Gardaí from the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit, targeting the sale and supply of drugs by an Organised Crime Group operating in Cork City Centre, is continuing this week.

As part of the investigation, which commenced on Tuesday, 25th March 2025, a total of seven individuals were arrested. Gardaí have now confirmed that three of those arrested have been released without charge. Two others remain in Garda custody.

The remaining two individuals, both males aged in their 30s and 40s, have been charged in connection with the investigation and are due to appear before Cork District Court this morning, Friday 28th March 2025, at 10:30am.

This multi-agency operation, supported by the Cork City Serious Crime Units, the National Surveillance Unit, the Regional Surveillance Unit, the Regional Armed Support Unit, the Regional Dog Unit, Operation Tara, and members of the Cork City Centre Policing Unit, resulted in the search of seven premises and the seizure of a number of items.

The men arrested ranged in age from their 20s to 40s and were taken to various Garda stations in Cork City. At the time of their arrests, six individuals were being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, while one was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Investigations are ongoing, and Gardaí have stated that further updates will be provided as they become available.
