Triple Offence Leads to Vehicle Seizure at Kinsale Checkpoint
Car seized in Kinsale after checkpoint reveals no tax, NCT, or insurance. Three strikes and you're out.
Kinsale Gardaí seized a vehicle at a checkpoint today after discovering the car had no tax, insurance, or valid NCT.
Officers conducting a proactive checkpoint in Kinsale used the Garda mobility device to check the vehicle's credentials this morning.
The check revealed a triple failure: the car's tax had expired, its NCT certificate was no longer valid, and crucially, the vehicle had no insurance cover.
Under Road Traffic legislation, driving without insurance, tax, or a valid NCT certificate are all separate offences. Operating a vehicle that fails on all three counts represents a serious breach of road safety requirements.
The vehicle was seized at the scene by Gardaí.
The Garda mobility device allows officers to instantly check vehicle registration details, insurance status, and NCT records during roadside stops, making it harder for unroadworthy or uninsured vehicles to evade detection.
