Tractor Driver Found Three and a Half Times Over Alcohol Limit After Mobile Phone Stop
A tractor driver stopped by Gardaí for using a mobile phone was three and a half times over his applicable legal alcohol limit.
While conducting Roads Policing duties, members of the Cork County Roads Policing Unit, Bandon, stopped the driver of an agricultural tractor after he was observed using a mobile phone while driving, An Garda Síochána Cork have said.
During the interaction, Gardaí formed a suspicion that the driver may have consumed alcohol. A roadside breath test was conducted, which returned a positive result for alcohol.
Further testing established that the driver was three and a half times over his applicable legal alcohol limit.
Gardaí have reminded the public that lower alcohol limits apply to certain categories of drivers, including drivers of commercial vehicles.
Whether driving a car, van, truck or agricultural vehicle, Gardaí said the message is the same: put the phone away, and never drink and drive.
