Toxic Waste Sour Slush Products Recalled Over High Glycerol Levels
Toxic Waste slush recall: Blue Raspberry, Lemon/Lime & Apple varieties withdrawn due to high glycerol levels that may cause headaches and nausea in children.

Three Toxic Waste sour slush products have been recalled as a precautionary measure due to high levels of glycerol that could cause side effects in young children.
The recall affects all batch codes and best before dates of Toxic Waste Blue Raspberry Sour Slushy Freeze and Squeeze, Toxic Waste Lemon and Lime Sour Slushy Freeze and Squeeze, and Toxic Waste Apple Sour Slushy Freeze and Squeeze, all in 250ml packs. The products originated in the United Kingdom.
Glycerol (E422) is an approved food additive used in slush ice drinks as a sugar substitute and to maintain the slushy texture by preventing the liquid from freezing solid. While no maximum level is set for its use in flavoured drinks, legislation requires it be used only at levels necessary to achieve its intended purpose.
Young children are particularly at risk due to their lower body weight. If they consume large quantities of glycerol in a short period, some may experience side effects including headaches, nausea, and vomiting.
Retailers must remove the products from sale immediately and display recall notices at point of sale. Wholesalers and distributors are required to contact affected customers, recall the products, and provide point-of-sale recall notices to retailer customers.
Manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, caterers, and retailers are all required to take action under this Category 1 alert notification.
Consumers are advised not to consume the implicated products and should avoid giving them to children.
