New Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Cork, Kerry, Clare and Limerick
Yellow warning still valid until 8pm.

Met Éireann has issued a fresh Status Yellow thunderstorm warning for four counties, expanding the alert area to include Clare and Limerick alongside Cork and Kerry.
The new warning, issued at 8:01pm this Saturday evening, comes immediately after the previous thunderstorm warning for Cork and Kerry expired at 8pm. This latest alert remains in effect until 10pm tonight, giving residents across the southwest and midwest two more hours of potentially hazardous conditions.
The forecaster warns that thunderstorms are occurring in some areas across the four counties. Four potential impacts have been identified, with power outages now added to the list of concerns alongside difficult travelling conditions, localised flooding, and lightning damage.
The expansion to include Clare and Limerick suggests the thunderstorm activity has broadened its reach beyond the initial west Cork and Kerry zones. Areas across all four counties should prepare for possible severe weather over the next two hours.
With nightfall adding to the hazards, visibility will be significantly reduced where heavy rain occurs. The addition of power outages as a specific risk indicates the intensity of the electrical activity associated with these storms.
Motorists across Cork, Kerry, Clare and Limerick should continue to exercise extreme caution. Standing water from earlier storms combined with fresh downpours could create particularly dangerous driving conditions.
Residents are advised to charge devices in case of power disruption and avoid unnecessary travel where possible. The warning expires at 10pm, though impacts from flooding and debris may persist beyond this time.
