Three-Day Closure Planned for R626 at Ballincurrig for Road Bowling Finals
R626 at Ballincurrig closes daily 9:30am-7:30pm on 18, 19 and 20 September for the Road Bowling finals. Diversion via Ballyedmond Hill and Two Pot Cross.
The R626 at Ballincurrig will close for ten hours a day across three consecutive days next month to facilitate the Annual All-Ireland Road Bowling finals and the 38th International King and Queen of the Roads competition.
Cork County Council has confirmed the road will close daily from 9:30am to 7:30pm on Friday 18, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026. The closure covers the stretch of the R626 between its junction with the L7604 at Ballincurrig and its junction with the L96262 at Rathcobane.
Motorists travelling from Midleton are advised to divert off the R626 at its junction with the LP3601 at Ballyedmond Hill. The diversion continues via the LP3601 Castlelyons Road to Two Pot Cross, then via the L3600 to Leary's Cross, before rejoining the R628 to its junction with the R626 at Ballinterry Crossroads, Rathcormac.
The closure is being put in place under Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993 and Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994. The notice, reference TRC-135-2026, was issued by the Director of Services for Roads and Transportation at Cork County Council.
