Ten Cork City Roads Face Closures or Traffic Restrictions From Monday

Cork motorists are being urged to allow extra time, as ten separate traffic management schemes take effect across the city from Monday, 24 August 2026. The works include two full road closures and multiple junctions under stop/go control, according to alerts published by Cork City Council and checked by CSA at 17:12 IST on Sunday, 23 August 2026.

Two roads will close outright. St Finbarr's Road will close between Noonan Road and Bandon Road from 19:30 to 06:00, running through Tuesday, 25 August 2026. Ardfoyle Avenue and Crescent will close between Blackrock Road and Park Avenue from 07:00 to 19:00, running through 31 August 2026.

Several more routes will operate under stop/go traffic control rather than full closure. Wilton Road will have overnight lane restrictions at Wilton Gardens from 20:00 to 06:00, through Tuesday, 25 August 2026. Evergreen Road will have three way stop/go control at Maiville Terrace from 20:00 to 06:00. Glasheen Road will have three way stop/go control at Sheare's Park from 09:30 to 16:00, through Tuesday, 25 August 2026.

Glenthorn Road will have three way stop/go control at Glenthorn Avenue from 08:00 to 18:00. Upper Fairhill will have three way stop/go control at Nash's Boreen from 09:30 to 16:00. Blackrock Road will have four way stop/go control at Victoria Avenue from 09:30 to 16:00. Skehard Road will have three way stop/go control at Ringmahon Road from 09:30 to 16:00. The R617 North Ring Road will have four way stop/go control at Ballyhooly Road from 09:30 to 16:00, through Tuesday, 25 August 2026.

Motorists are advised to avoid the two closed sections and to allow additional time when travelling across the city, particularly around the affected junctions.

Diversion routes and local access arrangements for the closures have not yet been published. It has also not been confirmed whether the stated operating hours apply on a single day or repeat across each multi-day period.
