Temu Balloons Identified As Chemical Risk To Children

CCPC has identified a chemical risk in Temu balloons, batch B20231007. About 50 affected in the Republic of Ireland. Stop using and keep away from children.

A safety issue has been identified with balloons sold on the Temu platform, due to a chemical risk to children, according to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).

The CCPC published the notice on 28 August 2026, covering the 23pcs Colour Mixture Balloons sold by LELO Balloons on Temu. The batch number is B20231007, the model number is XR0100, and the Temu Goods ID is 601101190128703.

The product poses a chemical risk due to excessive levels of N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances. Children may be exposed through skin contact or mouthing the balloons, which can harm children's health.

There are approximately 50 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

Consumers should stop using the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.

Temu has contacted affected consumers regarding the safety issue on behalf of the seller and assisted them with the refund process. Anyone who has not received a refund, or who has further questions or concerns about the product, is advised to contact the Temu Support Centre & FAQ.
