Sunshine and Showers Today, Warmer Temperatures Expected Tomorrow

Ireland is set for a mixed day of weather today with both sunshine and scattered showers expected across much of the country, according to the latest forecast from Met Éireann.

Munster will begin the day largely dry with some sunshine, before showers develop away from the south coast during the morning hours. Weather experts warn that some of these showers could be heavy, potentially causing spot flooding, with isolated thunderstorms also possible in some areas.

By this evening, rain and drizzle will develop in the southwest and extend across southern areas. Temperatures will reach highs of 15 to 17 degrees Celsius, accompanied by light southerly or variable breezes.

Tonight will continue with further showers or outbreaks of rain, gradually clearing southwards by morning as clear spells develop. Overnight temperatures will drop to between 4 and 8 degrees with light variable breezes.

Those with pollen allergies should note that the pollen count is forecast to be moderate today, rising to high tomorrow. The solar UV index remains moderate for both today and Wednesday.

Improving Conditions Mid-Week

Wednesday is expected to bring significantly improved weather conditions across the country. Any lingering patchy rain in the southeast will clear quickly, giving way to a largely dry day with good spells of sunshine. Temperatures will rise noticeably, reaching between 18 and 21 degrees with light to moderate northerly breezes.

This dry spell looks set to continue into Thursday, which forecasters predict will be largely dry with patchy cloud and sunny spells, and only the occasional light shower possible. Northern parts of Ulster and Connacht, as well as areas near the Leinster coast, will feel fresher with temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees, while the rest of the country will enjoy temperatures between 17 and 21 degrees.

Weekend Outlook

The pleasant conditions will begin to change from Friday evening as cloud increases from the west, bringing rain or drizzle that will spread eastwards, though rainfall amounts are expected to be small.

The weekend will see a shift to more unsettled weather. Saturday morning will be mostly cloudy with rain in most areas, gradually clearing eastwards as scattered showers follow from the west. Temperatures will reach between 15 and 19 degrees.

Sunday will bring a cooler and fresher feel with sunny spells and scattered showers, most frequent in western areas. Temperatures will drop to between 12 and 16 degrees, accompanied by fresh, gusty west to southwest winds.

Looking ahead to early next week, forecasters predict continued cool and mixed conditions with rain or showers at times.
